How to write a dj quote

A DJ quote isn't just hours behind the decks. Clients are paying for the sound system scaled to the room, lighting, microphones for toasts, and often an MC who keeps the evening on schedule. Listing those pieces separately helps couples and event hosts see why prices differ and choose what they need. Wedding clients in particular need to know if ceremony audio is included, how many hours of performance they get, whether setup is counted, and what overtime costs if the party is still going. Venue details belong in the quote: power, load-in times, sound limits and space for equipment. Since most popular dates book up early, a non-refundable retainer to hold the date is standard practice.

Performance is priced by the hour or as packages with a set number of hours.

Does setup time count toward my DJ hours?
Usually not. Most DJs arrive early to set up and test, and performance hours start when the music starts. Say how you handle it.

Do I need separate sound for the ceremony?
If the ceremony is in a different spot from the reception, an extra speaker setup and wireless mics are often needed. It's commonly an add-on.

Can we keep the DJ longer on the night?
Many DJs offer overtime if the venue allows. Listing the hourly overtime rate in the quote avoids confusion.
