A receipt is proof that a payment was received: who paid, how much, when and what for. It works for full payments, deposits, installments and partial payments, and it protects both sides if a question comes up later.
Is a receipt the same as an invoice?
No. An invoice asks for payment; a receipt confirms a payment was made. Many businesses send an invoice first and a receipt once they are paid.
Can I turn an estimate into a receipt?
Yes. In the editor, when the client pays, tap “Mark as paid” and the estimate becomes a receipt with the same line items.
Do I need to sign a receipt?
It is not always required, but a signature or your business details make it more credible, especially for cash payments.
