Gutter cleaning customers usually call after water spills over the edge, so they want it done soon and at a fair price. The estimate should show how you got there: linear feet of gutter, how many stories, and how many downspouts need flushing. Roof pitch and access matter more than people think; a steep roof or a tall, narrow lot means slower, more careful work. Say what happens to the debris (bagged and hauled, or left in a pile for yard waste) and whether you'll test each downspout. Cleaning often reveals problems like loose hangers, leaking seams or rotten fascia. Rather than surprising the customer, add a line saying repairs are quoted separately and list a few small ones as options.
How do I measure gutters for an estimate?
Measure along the eaves where the gutters run, or use the home's perimeter and subtract sections without gutters. Satellite maps help for a rough number, but confirm on site.
Are downspouts included in gutter cleaning?
Many contractors include a flow test and charge extra for clogged downspouts that need disassembly. State your policy in the estimate so the customer knows.
Should I sell gutter guards on the same estimate?
You can list them as an optional line. Customers who just paid to clean overflowing gutters are often interested, and seeing the price next to the cleaning cost helps them decide.
