Calculators, receipts and guides that go with this estimate.
Snow removal estimates are really agreements about what happens when it snows. The customer wants to know three things: when you'll show up, what you'll clear, and how they'll be billed if it's a light winter or a brutal one. That's why the pricing model goes at the top. Per-push pricing charges each time you plow; seasonal contracts charge a fixed amount whatever the snowfall; hourly works for commercial lots and big storms. Then define the 'trigger depth', the amount of snow that starts service, and list each area: driveway, walks, steps, mailbox approach. Salt and ice melt should be separate so customers don't assume it's included. A short line about marking driveway edges saves your blade and your reputation.
Is a seasonal contract or per-push pricing better?
Seasonal contracts give the customer a predictable bill and give you steady income, but you take the risk of a heavy winter. Per-push pricing is fairer in light winters. Many contractors offer both and let the customer choose.
What is a trigger depth?
It's the amount of snow that has to fall before you come out, often a couple of inches. Writing it down avoids calls asking why you didn't show up after a light dusting.
Who's responsible if the plow damages the lawn or a curb?
Most estimates say damage to unmarked or hidden objects isn't covered and ask the customer to stake driveway edges. Check your insurance policy and describe your damage policy clearly in the notes.
