Calculators, receipts and guides that go with this estimate.
Appliance repair is a decision for the customer: fix it or replace it. A clear estimate helps them make that choice, which is why it should list the appliance, model and serial number, what you found and what it will take to fix. Separate the service call or diagnostic fee from the repair itself, and list parts and labor individually. Many repair outfits credit the diagnostic fee if the customer goes ahead; if you do, say so. Parts availability matters as much as price: a back-ordered control board can mean a week without a fridge. If the repair cost is close to the cost of a new appliance, say that honestly. Customers remember the tech who told them not to waste money.
Is it worth repairing an old appliance?
It depends on the age, the repair cost and the condition of the unit. A common rule of thumb is to compare the repair cost with the price of a comparable new appliance. Your estimate can give an honest recommendation.
Why do I pay a service call fee?
It covers the trip and the time to diagnose the problem. Many technicians apply it to the repair if the customer approves the work.
Are parts covered by warranty?
New parts usually carry a manufacturer warranty, and many repair businesses add their own labor warranty. Put the terms in the notes.
