Calculators, receipts and guides that go with this estimate.
Concrete customers usually ask about one number, square feet, but the price behind it depends on what's underneath and what's on top. Your estimate should show the slab size and thickness, the base preparation, the reinforcement and the finish, because those are exactly the things a cheaper quote tends to skip. A 4-inch patio and a driveway built for trucks are not the same job. If old concrete needs to be broken out and hauled away, that's its own line, and so are pumps or extra labor when the truck can't reach the pour. Setting expectations about cracking is part of the job: control joints help, but all concrete can crack. Weather and cure time belong in the notes.
How thick should a concrete driveway be?
It depends on the use, soil and local code. Patios and walkways are often thinner than driveways, which carry vehicle loads. Put the thickness on the estimate so customers can compare like for like.
Will my new concrete crack?
Concrete commonly develops some cracks as it cures and over time. Proper base, reinforcement and control joints reduce random cracking. Say this in writing before the pour.
Why is removing old concrete so expensive?
Breaking up concrete takes equipment and labor, and disposal is often charged by weight. It's a real part of the job and deserves its own line.
