Video production quotes are easier to approve when they follow how the work actually happens: pre-production, production and post-production. Clients often focus on the shoot, but planning, scripting, editing, color and sound frequently take more time than filming. Break the quote into those stages and list the crew and gear for each shoot day, so a client can see the difference between a one-person run-and-gun shoot and a full crew. Define the deliverables precisely: how many videos, final lengths, formats for each platform and how many revision rounds. Licensing is a real cost and a common blind spot. Music, stock footage and talent releases should match where the video will be used, whether that's social media, a website or paid ads.
Why is editing so much of the cost?
Editing involves reviewing footage, building the story, adding graphics and polishing color and sound. It often takes longer than the shoot, especially for multiple versions.
Can I use the video anywhere I want?
It depends on the licenses for music, stock and talent. Describe the intended uses in the quote so licensing matches; broader use may cost more.
What's a half-day shoot?
Usually a shorter booking for simpler shoots. Many crews have a minimum, and travel and setup still apply, so a half day isn't always half the price.
