Handyman jobs are usually a handful of small tasks, and the receipt should reflect that: each task on its own line, materials separately, and any trip charge. Customers often need it later. A landlord may want to bill a tenant for a repair, a homeowner may need records for a home sale or insurance claim, and rental owners track repairs as expenses. A detailed receipt also protects you: if a customer calls months later about a leaking faucet you installed, the receipt shows the date and what was done. Include the service address and completion date, the payment method and any warranty you offer on your work. If materials were bought by the customer, note it.
Should materials be listed separately on a handyman receipt?
Yes. It shows what the customer paid for parts versus labor, which landlords and property owners often need for their records.
Can I use the receipt as an invoice?
A receipt confirms payment already received. If the customer hasn't paid yet, send an invoice or estimate first, then a receipt once paid.
What warranty should I note?
If you offer one, write the period and what it covers, such as labor on installed items. If not, it's fine to leave it out.
