A payment receipt is the general-purpose proof that a customer paid you. Freelancers, contractors, shops and service businesses use it to close the loop on an invoice or estimate: the work was done, the customer paid, and here's the record. Unlike an invoice, which asks for money, a receipt confirms money was received. It's useful even when payments go through a bank or card terminal, because it ties the payment to the specific job and line items, which customers need for their own records or reimbursements. List what was paid for, the amount of each item, any tax, the total, the payment method and a reference to the invoice or estimate number. If it's a partial payment, show the remaining balance so both sides stay on the same page.
What's the difference between an invoice and a receipt?
An invoice requests payment and lists what's owed. A receipt confirms that payment was received. Many businesses send both: the invoice first and the receipt after payment.
Should I send a receipt for card payments?
Card processors often send their own receipt, but a receipt from your business lists the services and links the payment to the job, which customers appreciate.
Can I issue a receipt for a partial payment?
Yes. Show the amount received, what it's applied to and the balance still due.
Yes. Make and download as many as you want, no signup. Free PDFs carry a small Presupuestado mark; Pro removes it and adds your logo.
